Company picnic – a time to celebrate with colleagues & family
We held our company picnic on Friday, July 15th outside on our main parking lot. Luck was on our side as we again had a beautiful day of weather. Our president, Larry Hull, played host to our employees and their families. We enjoyed each other’s company as we dined on specialties from local food trucks, held an employee raffle, listened to music by an amateur DJ and competed in a corn hole tournament. The kiddies had a blast in the bouncy house and dunk tank, while the “big kids” created and competed in all sorts of basketball challenges.

In other Northeast Ohio news…
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!  And no, we do not get tired of saying that! After a 52-year drought, the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA championship in dramatic fashion over the Golden State Warriors, ending the city’s long streak of futility in professional sports. “#ALLin216” became the social media hashtag and battle cry of all of Northeast Ohio helping our beloved team rallied by fantastic fan support to deliver the trophy. Many of our employees were loud “cheerleaders” to the team and a few even braved the large crowds during game 7’s watch party and later the championship parade. While Cleveland didn’t give the team keys to the city, the “Land” did itself proud with amazing (and quite peaceful) celebrations.

The Cleveland Indians have kept their strong start of the season going and now have one of the best records in the American League. Could this also be the Indians’ year? Who knows?! But one thing is for sure, we are all having fun watching Lindor, Kipnis, Napoli, Kluber and the rest of the Tribe play some fantastic baseball! The Indians need to keep winning and hold off the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals as they strive to make the post season. Then it can be any team’s show!

With the success of the Cavaliers and the Indians, our beloved Cleveland Browns haven’t enjoyed the normal fan attention and media coverage that they have become accustomed to in this “football town.” With the preseason just getting underway, it is really hard to gauge what type of team Head Coach, Hue Jackson, will field this year. It is likely that we will be cheering another “rebuilding year.” We sure are hoping for some good, professional football in our region’s near future. Perhaps Robert Griffin III, Josh Gordon, Joe Thomas and the boys can come through and make us proud again. Can I get a “Woof, Woof?”

The Republican National Convention was held on July 18 – 21 in Cleveland, OH with great fanfare as Billionaire businessman Donald Trump accepted the nomination as the party’s Presidential candidate. If you are a political junkie then you live for moments like these and those found in Philadelphia a week later for the Democratic National Convention. Just like the NBA Championship parade for the Cavaliers, the “Land” did itself proud by acting as an excellent host city as praised by all in attendance. Politics aside, we all hope that the spotlight will continue to shine on our city as it continues a rebirth and revitalization.
